I actually BAKED and DECORATED a cake!!
So, my youngest son recently turned one, and as any other willing and abled parent I decided I will make his smash cake and cupcakes for the party. The theme was Cookie Monster. I made some practice cupcakes and smash cake and it honestly turned out really nice. So of course I let that go to my head and decided "hmm I can make the cake too," and I DID!!
First, let me introduce you to my practice smash cake.
It's a little sloppy but listen, it was my first time lol.
These right here were my practice cupcakes!
Now keep in mind that I am not a baker, like at all, however, I enjoyed making all these cakes. So when it came down to the actual cake for the party I decided to give it a go, so I went to my sister in-law's house 3 days before the party and decided "let me try and make this cake and if it doesn't come out how I want it to, I'll just order one from Walmart. So I decided to make the cake and make two separate icings and two separate fillings. I made a cream cheese icing and a cookie dough icing. For the filling I made a blue berry filling and a cookie dough icing with chocolate chips filling. So here I am, full on "chef" mode, making the icing and fillings from scratch, BUT, I didn't make the cake from scratch, I made it from store bought boxes. Don't judge, I still had to add ingredients to it lol.
Anyway, my sister in-law helped me smooth out the cake because I had no idea how to properly frost a cake. So here we go, these are the pictures of the birthday cake, cupcake, and smash cake at the party.
I am obviously biased, but I LOVED how everything turned out. I got so many compliments on the cakes and cupcakes I was so proud of myself. Now, I have to give credit where credit is due, my uncle and my sons cousins helped with the cupcakes since I was going crazy with decorations and other matters of the party, but O.M.G. there is no way you can tell this was my first cake! I mean maybe you can but I can't, there are so many people out here that SELL cakes and they don't look as good as this lol. Ok, let me stop tooting my own horn, I'm only this confident and happy with it because of the feedback I got.
Honestly I would love to hear all of your feedback, tell me what you guys think, how did I do? Is my work promising? I'm actually considering getting into cakes and practicing to possibly sell cakes. Do you think I should go for it?
